Remember, a full draft of your diagnostic revision is due Tuesday, September 20 by 11:59pm. Please name this document LastName_DiagnosticFullEdit.docx.
The class will be divided into two groups. One group will read an essay about canned and fresh food. The other group will read the essay about vacations.
1. After reading the essay you were given, you will get into groups of two. Each member of the pair should have read the same essay as the other member. You will now work on creating an outline to fit the essay you just read.
**Make sure you write the outlines on paper. All members in your group should write an outline on paper because you will later split up and use your outlines!
2. You will switch partners so that those of you who read the block essay are now partnered with your peers that read the point-by-point essay. Discuss how the two outlines are different by focusing on form difference rather than the actual content difference.
3. You will be asked to share what your outlines looked like. Those of you who read the block essay will explain what your outline looked like and those of you who read the point-by-point essay will explain what your outline looked like for that essay. You will then be asked to discuss the differences between the two outlines that you came up with in your groups.
4. We will review the sample Block Outline document as a class so you can see an example outline for the block essay.
5. We will review the sample PointByPoint Outline document as a class so you can see an example for the point-by-point essay.
6. We will review the Compare/Contrast Essay Powerpoint to clarify any remaining questions.
