1. Object
Pick one object from the table that is somehow related to the last object picked. It can be the same color, shape, use, etc., but DO NOT tell the rest of your classmates what connection you made between the objects. Observe the objects picked by your classmates and think of how they could be related to each other.
2. Guessing
Now that everyone has picked one object from the table, try to discuss with your classmates how each object relates to the next. After you have made speculations about most or all of the objects, share with your classmates why you picked the object you did. Discuss the following question with a person next to you:
How was this activity related to writing?
3. Old/New Information Pattern
Look at this paragraph. In pairs, answer the following questions:
- How is each sentence connected to the next?
- What strategies were used to maintain the old/new information pattern?
